Sometimes we get to wrapped up in “Testing” our abilities rather than work hard to improve them.
It’s great to test your limits and see where you stand with your strength, flexibility, fitness etc. but all to often we see people get stuck in the testing zone and disregard the volume and hard work required to take their abilities to the next level.
As coaches it is our job to program the level of volume you will need in order to make those advancements. When it is looked at on a day to day basis, sometimes it just seems like we are being mean. But rest assured we have a long term plan for your development, and this “mean” workout is all part of that plan.
Extra work can always be done by you to assist that long term plan come to fruition. If there is something standing in the way of the next level then ask your coaches for guidance BUT be prepared to do the work. If mobility is the problem – do more mobility, if it is strength – do more strength. Your willingness to succeed combined with our knowledge means naught if your not willing to do the work.
If you are guilty of using your spare time and Open gym time to do the movements you love and never place priority on the things you suck at, then you are destined to plateau.
Use your coaches, ask the questions, seek the knowledge, embrace the hard work and reap the benefits that it brings.
NO SHORTCUTS – WORK FOR IT.
